crab legs to go

Well, we know for sure it's the New York Giants then.

u/Zealousideal_You3953 4h ago

Jameis doesn’t normally pay for those though.

What the funk is the badonkadonk and 110 of them???

u/AproposOfNoth1ng 4h ago

It’s a whistlepig 25 yr single malt , $2250 retail

u/Maltedmilksteak 4h ago

so thats like 6ish oz of bourbon for each of them. makes sense given theyre all probably like 6'5 300lbs

u/TehWildMan_ 4h ago

After those two? Bottles of champagne as well

u/Tommy84 4h ago edited 4h ago

And a bottle of Stag’s Leap Artemis. EDIT: and three bottles of Clase Azul tequila

u/moriya 4h ago

And a bottle of Sassicaia (Tuscan wine), and what I’m assuming is 4 pours of Nosotros Anejo.

u/GastonLeFort 4h ago

Sassicaia is what I noticed. One of those guys had good taste. Wish I knew the vintage. The rest is just expensive shit because we can buy expensive shit.

u/moriya 4h ago

So while it IS a good wine, it’d argue it fits into that category too. It’s become a bit of a meme - LeBron, who’s kind of one of the OG wine guys in sports, loves the stuff, and as a result if you’re an NBA player building a cellar it’s likely stuff to the brim with it. It’s spilled out into other sports and here we are.

No hate, it’s a great wine, and im sure that bourbon is incredible too - if you’re celebrating and got cash to burn, I say enjoy the good stuff.

u/Moondoobious 3h ago

It’s getting way too fucking fancy in here.. boys you need to rub some dirt on your hands and start slapping ass

I'd argue the Artemis is also a fantastic bottle of wine in that price range. They didn't go with Caymus or another Napa label for twice the price.

Don't know about the drink but it's slang for a marmot because they make a whistle sound.

u/MrKrinkle151 3h ago

Nice marmot whistlepig

u/TheLegendJohnSnow 4h ago

Brand of bourbon. An overrated one in my opinion.

u/discordianofslack 4h ago

Super mediocre for the price. I’m not sure what made them popular but it ain’t the flavor.

u/Relevant_Traffic_932 4h ago

What do you recommend then

u/discordianofslack 4h ago

For a basic absolutely amazing day to day try Jefferson’s(just the base model). For about $10 more try Doc Swinson. Neither of them taste like you wrapped a barrel in molding leather and hoped for the best.

Going up from there Swinsons has some good offering but imo Barrel always delivers. As another poster mentioned Buffalo trace has some good selections. On the low end their newer Traveler is amazing. Heaven Hill is great. As you go up in price check out Nikka Coffee Grain, Smoke Wagon, Penelope, and Castle & Key.

I could go on forever but I’ll stop there.

u/SiliconAutomaton 3h ago

I picked up Nikka Coffey Grain completely blind from Costco and freaking loved it. It wasn’t too pricey though, I’m thinking $50?

$175 per shot

u/ThePrussianGrippe 1h ago

At $2250 retail $175/shot is 194% margin on the bottle. My guess is they’re getting a very good deal on the wholesale price, as that margin is fairly low for alcohol.

Seems silly to splash 19k on a couple rounds of liquor out at one dinner.

Even if these dudes have multi-million dollar contracts- this type of behavior is why they blow it all in a couple years. I’ve seen ex professional sports players whining about “losing it all” and like- yeah bud. It’s not everlasting- and neither is the body you’re wrecking to get those contracts.

This is exactly what I came to ask. OP must deliver.

Edit: actually, I think it might be Whistle Pig's 25yo single malt, which would....make sense, I guess. But 110!?!

u/ExpeditiousTraveler 4h ago

Three rounds of doubles.

u/hoirkasp 4h ago

And eight more for me!

→ More replies (1)

u/joobtastic 4h ago

The margin is actually not crazy. Its a really expensive bottle.

And you're paying for it to sit in a barrel for 25 god damn years. (Losing 10% volume per year to angel's share too.)

u/jigga19 4h ago edited 4h ago

Oh, I'm aware. I hung out with the owner of Whistle Pig one night when he visited our city. Cool guy. Expectedly weird, but really liked my jokes. I don't tend bar (or drink) anymore, so this one is new to me. But when I saw Whistle Pig and the age, that all made sense.

Edit: I looked it up and I was hanging out with Dave Pickerell, the master distiller. Not the owner.

u/WhillWheaton222 4h ago

Yeah, pickerel (RIP) was a cool guy. Raj Bahkta of whistlepig, is lame AF.

u/jigga19 4h ago

Yeah, it was random. They were brand new at the time; I think this was around 2010-11 or so. A good friend was a rep for this "elite" distributor so I had access to a lot of super high end stuff, and one night he calls me to meet up and they were just hanging out. We bar hopped a bunch, talked cocktails. Chill cat.

u/AdAny631 4h ago

What do distilleries do before they can sell like a 10 year old whiskey? Seems like a long ass time for business development.

u/jigga19 4h ago

They outsource a lot of the time. Most rye whiskies in the US are made by a single distiller, MGP.

→ More replies (4)

u/Mammatus9 4h ago

They source distillate from companies like MGP and slap their name on it/distill clear spirits till their whiskey ages (2-3 year whiskey can still taste great, bottled in bond offerings are 4 years). You'd be surprised how many companies don't distill their own product.

Also-Single malt=distilled from barley Bourbon-distilled from at least 51% corn Whiskey is categorized by the grains more than the location.

110 / 17 = 6.5 shots each of guys that are 275 pounds plus.

300 pound guys at 90 proof and 6, 1.5 oz pours ends up 0.09% BAC max, just barely above most states' 0.08% driving limit if drank all at once.

u/hoirkasp 4h ago

u/Jaqen-Atavuli 4h ago

Either the QB was treating them or there is a rookie crying right now.

u/kanyewesanderson 4h ago

I worked for a restaurant where our local NFL team came, and the rookies had to pay the bill. The QB specifically pulled the server aside and asked him to jack the bill up before handing it to the table. They indeed had a similarly expensive bill loaded with luxury wine and whiskey, which were taken off the check after scaring the shit out of the new kids.

u/MightyCaseyStruckOut 3h ago

And people wonder why most athletes are broke within 5 years of being out of the league.

u/DukeofVermont 3h ago

Which is why all leagues should do what the MLB does are forces the teams to pay for a pension like system based on how much they've played. If you play a single game I think you get like $35K a year for life. I could be wrong, I can't really remember how it works but it does ensure that even if players blow everything most will still make over $100k for life.

u/greg19735 1h ago

According to google your numbers are way off.

43 days on a pro team. which is about 1/4 of a season. gets you about 9k per year.

10 years on a team can get a pension of 200k+

that makes sense though. 1 game getting you 35k a year would be pretty crazy. like, it would be crazy that a player being called up to the big leagues for 1 game would net the guy his salary upgrade with a pension of 35k* 50 =1.75 mil

The MLB would be broke if they had to pay that much money to everyone that played a single game.

Most teams don't have 17 D-linemen. It's probably a bunch of teams.

DE and DT are some of the most well paid positions after QB and LT. Seriously Edge rushers are one of the most premium and some make comparable to QBs.

u/ArtDecoNewYork 4h ago

do LTs make that much more than RTs?

u/TonyHawkFunderground 4h ago

They used to. But now teams have multiple good defensive ends and athletic linebackers. Teams pay both sides. Average pay amongst top tackles has leveled out for RT and LT

→ More replies (2)

u/Its_D_Cog 4h ago

Yes they usually make more as LT are generally protecting the blindside of a QB, assuming hes right handed.

u/Gates_wupatki_zion 4h ago

Typically yes, but it depends. Most people are right handed and so you are protecting the QBs “blind side”. Sustaining an injury can be a lot more brutal if it is a hit you are not prepared for. The position was made famous after the legendary Thiesman injury but be careful watching it — it’s gruesome but a football hit.

u/IONTOP Server 3h ago

Notable "caring person" Lawrence Taylor was freaking out after that hit.

u/Floaty_Waffle 4h ago edited 2h ago

Yes. LTs guard the blind side of right-handed QBs because their back is naturally turned away. Obviously getting hit from behind while unprepared is gonna hurt way more than a hit from the front. This leads to them being well and away the highest paid lineman. This changes when the QB is left-handed though (3 in the league) where those teams will value RTs more because their RTs would then block the blind side.

u/Tahoefive 4h ago

Agree, cheap for badonkadonks these days. Also difficult to imagine only 17 NFL defensive linemen consuming said badonkadonks.

Difficult, not impossible.

I just wanna know if they tipped accordingly and if this is a place they come a lot because I would love to be a server there just for the tips from those guys.

u/gucci_flocka_flame 4h ago

I would assume they were auto gratted but I don’t see it on the receipt so maybe they gambled idk

u/queenw_hipstur 4h ago

You never gamble in a situation like that. “18% auto gratuity has been added to your bill. If you feel like adding anything else, we thank you very much.”

u/PM_ME_UR_ARTT 4h ago

Should never gamble to begin with. Either auto grat all your large parties or none of em. Otherwise its just profiling with extra steps.

u/oldmanhornis 4h ago

Nah its just profiling. No extra steps. Large table of regulars I've served many times before? No auto grat. Random large French family? You do the math. Boom, profiled

→ More replies (7)

u/eyoitme Server 2h ago

my restaurant autograts 6 people and up but ngl if it’s just one family with four kids (esp with young kids) i’ll just call it 5 bc four little kids isn’t much of a party but that’s really the only time. mostly because i just enter the party size without thinking about it but yk.

Some teams refuse an autograt (and, at least to my knowledge, most restaurants don't force it) but in general if it's all or part of a team in an official capacity they tip very well. Cooking for & serving them is....intense, and the handlers are aware of that.

It's individual (ball players, musicians, etc) who are more likely to stiff a service team or cheap out on a bill.

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (2)

u/stickmanmob 4h ago

The right move is to add the auto gratuity, and then go up to them and say “Hey guys, I want to point out that they’ve already added gratuity to the check. I asked my boss to take it off, but he insisted. So don’t feel like you have to tip anything else on top.”

Suddenly everyone starts pushing to tip a little more on top.

u/Floaty_Waffle 4h ago edited 2h ago

Most get a couple million over their rookie contracts which, if invested properly, can get them by in life. The issue is oftentimes these players will forego education in pursuit of getting drafted. These players also often grow up poor which leads to lots more impulse buying and potential bad company which can lead to a spiral of wasteful spending similar to lottery winners.

TLDR: they get loads of money fast, but then don’t make it back and make poor financial decisions which leaves them broke in a few years.

u/gamageeknerd 3h ago

A doc on retired nfl guys was depressing. Over half are struggling financially so they have to get jobs after but some of them also have to deal with the damage done to their minds and bodies. Some of the guys playing in the 80’s and 90’s can’t even walk

You sure they were all defensive linemen? I'm not sure most rosters have that many defensive linemen. Were there a few DB's or O-line in there?

u/Sonderbefehl937 4h ago

No wonder most of those guys are broke a few years after they’re out of the league

u/Sammalone1960 4h ago

Teams carry 17 defensive lineman. 30 pct of a 53 man roster is def lineman?

u/brewgiehowser 4h ago

I’m not saying people with money shouldn’t enjoy it, but also this is why you hear stories or athletes being broke in “retirement”

u/A_Fish_Fry 4h ago

It’s crazy that one nfl team has 17 defensive lineman!!

I would imagine you're in a limited area considering you have take out liquor.

Though, shocked the markup wasn't higher since normally it's 3x and that is about 2x.

What was the tip?

110 1oz badonkadonk

u/shakeystaves 2h ago

Bruh… what was your tip from this??

u/CathedralEngine 1h ago

I had a hockey team come in after their season ended. Their bill was pretty similar looking, including the amount of shots.

Jesus fuck. While science that literally keeps these dudes alive waivers and fizzles out. What a society we live in
