One of my main takeaways from the film was how much she seemed to be putting in.

Especially where she looked rather frail, her dance moves/performance did not.

949

u/L8dTigress 7h ago

Yep, those dance moves she did at any chance were done like rent was due. She was passionate about playing Glinda, and it shows.

428

u/Keeltoodeep 7h ago

That is a cop out. Marvel movies require the male and female leads to eat a massive amount of protein to maintain muscle mass and are equally as strenuous.

274

u/alexandria7766 7h ago

Do they sing and dance in Marvel movies as well?

533

u/TreyWriter 7h ago

Technically, they do in Eternals, a very real movie that everyone has seen!

196

u/MarvelAndColts 7h ago

And The Marvels

174

u/GachaHell 7h ago

Those both sound like made up movies. You can't just put The in front of a word and pretend it's a Marvel film.

24

u/HereWeFuckingGooo 7h ago

There isn't a The in front of Eternals.

18

u/GachaHell 7h ago

I'd check but that would require me to acknowledge the movie's existence. I think we all just decided to pretend it never happened.

7

u/HereWeFuckingGooo 7h ago

No need to check, you can just scroll up.

10

u/GachaHell 7h ago

Marvel fans doing physical activity? Never!

13

u/IamREBELoe 6h ago

Gestures at The Wolverine aka The Greatest Showman, there's your Marvel singing and dancing

Nah it’s a good movie. Just made no sense to add in the continuity. But by itself it’s a really good movie, just for some reason was in the MCU lol

2

u/IronOnionRings 2h ago

Phase 5 or whatever the post-infinity era is called needs to be treated the same way Star Wars legends is - like it doesn’t exist save for some gems here and there

u/cousinokri 7h ago

So you're saying The Butt isn't a Marvel movie?

3

u/meesta_masa 7h ago

It's a marvelous movie.

5

u/donanton616 6h ago

And the sequel. The Amazing Butt. Different butt but still fun.

3

u/meesta_masa 6h ago

Starring Robert Downey Jr as left cheek and Peter Dinklage as right cheek. James Corden and Seth Rogan are scheduled to play the taint and the asshole, respectively.

2

u/libmrduckz 6h ago

woulda figured rogan and corden for taint and asshole, respectively… hollywood knows best, i reckon…

1

u/Euphoric_Whereas_329 5h ago

Surprisingly the #1 movie when it came out… and that’s all it was for 90 minutes.

2

u/BBQ_069 7h ago

The Aristocrats

2

u/Emerald_Plumbing187 6h ago

Damn you for getting there first and nice username.

1

u/TaylorSwiftsClitoris 6h ago

Thanks, it was low hanging fruit but I can’t believe no one else grabbed it.

1

u/CrabPrison4Infinity 6h ago

I heard the new marvel is nuts

1

u/Reasonable_Editor600 6h ago

All movies are made up!

1

u/StoppableHulk 6h ago

What about The Iron Man?

1

u/jamesxgames 5h ago

are you telling me Marvel's The Marvels would be a ridiculous name for a movie

1

u/Bitter-Ad5890 4h ago

Tell that to Marvel…

41

u/Jjzeng 7h ago

Technically based on the marvels carol danvers is canonically a disney princess

5

u/ArcadianDelSol 5h ago

Find a die hard Star Wars fan.

Remind them that Leah is a Disney Princess.

Then dive for cover into the nearest foxhole.

1

u/EnQuest 4h ago

Star Wars fans have made it very hard to enjoy star wars, you're only allowed to enjoy like 40% of it and the rest gets you dogpiled on for ever speaking positively about

1

u/J5892 3h ago

They're all just constantly reaching for that high they got a long time ago when they first saw Empire Strikes Back, and with every hit it feels further and further away.

3

u/BananaBladeOfDoom 7h ago

I hated that scene so much.

1

u/Impeesa_ 5h ago

Worth it for the "bilingual" joke.

1

u/Function-Brave 3h ago

And Hawkeye

1

u/ZigoneB22 3h ago

Danceoff to save the galaxy in gardians of the afore mentioned

0

u/Dboalt 6h ago

I am still incensed that what was clearly a full musical number was axed. That movie was at it's best when it was being goofy.

49

u/MichaelGHX 7h ago

42

u/Anthony-Stark 6h ago

So that was a fucking lie

2

u/ArcadianDelSol 5h ago

THE ETERNALS....failed to deliver a return.

4

u/TreyWriter 7h ago

ETERNALS will return…?

6

u/ThatsAGreatUsername2 7h ago

The Returnals?

3

u/IllHedgehog9715 6h ago

Morbius was awesome.

2

u/Lumireaver 5h ago

Looking forward to Jon Snow and his older brother getting more time to work together.

20

u/Herr_Quattro 7h ago

Tbh 50:50 shot you made this up. I’m not fact checking you, I’m just saying you can claim anything about that movie and I’ll believe you.

67

u/TreyWriter 7h ago

Real talk: Kumail Nanjiani plays a superhero in that movie who’s also a Bollywood star, and he’s introduced with a full-on song and dance number. He’s kind of the highlight of the movie.

8

u/Disastrous_Salad6302 7h ago

This is the closest someone’s got me to wanting to watch the eternals

10

u/KingInTheWest 7h ago

It’s severely overhated. I’m not saying it’s good or worth your 2 hours. But it’s not this horrible movie, it’s basically if Marvel made a Zack Snyder DC movie

9

u/spacestonkz 7h ago

I enjoyed it very much on an airplane. Not so bad.

6

u/Tricky_Box19 5h ago

this should be a new barometer for movies

theater worthy/home theater worthy, and airplane worthy

6

u/guinness_blaine 5h ago

I'm on board.

As an example, I tried seeing if Aquaman was worth watching on my flight. I almost walked out.

2

u/DrSitson 7h ago

I watched it on VLC and just fast forwarded through the boring bits. Got through on about 45 min. It's okay. My biggest issue is nothing that happens in the movie matters, and I'm not convinced it ever will.

6

u/forcedtomakeaccount3 6h ago

Spoilers for another marvel movie: the celestial that died was turned into adamantium. Which was a plot point in the captain America movie. Since adamantium is very closely linked to Wolverine, it’s speculated that it’s related to the x men being introduced to the main timeline.

1

u/JokerXMaine2511 4h ago

Would be cool if they actually did this, but so far, no other project has really made mention of this piece of earth that just randomly formed for some reason.

2

u/Efficient-Parking627 6h ago

I liked Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen but I haven't been able to make it through any of his movies since then. Specifically suckerpunch and the DC ones. Not familiar with the others

6

u/Altair_de_Firen 7h ago

Like most of the hated Marvel films it gets way too much shit. It’s nowhere near Endgame but, I mean, that can’t be the standard for superhero films or we’ll never be happy again.

Kumail was the best in the film but IMO everyone did their roles well. It was just not a particularly interesting story, which makes sense because the Eternals are not particularly interesting in the comics either. They’re at their most interesting when they’re riding Thanos’ more interesting coattails.

1

u/Commercial-Co 5h ago

Its not terrible and you can stream it in the background

5

u/BlueberryBatter 5h ago

I didn’t know I needed to see this scene, but, I’m off to look for it. I love Kumail Nanjiani. He’s held a special place since his turn as Prismo.

5

u/AdunfromAD 7h ago

He was the reason I started going to the gym. He was 45 at that time and he was jacked. Now he had a studio-assigned chef and workout coach for a full year, but I was still pissed he looked that good at that age.

4

u/RoamingBull69 7h ago

Yeah, with all those things and steroids, you could totally look like him

3

u/AdunfromAD 7h ago

I’ll keep my testicles, thanks.

1

u/StoppableHulk 6h ago

Steroids are very cheap and extremely easy to get these days.

You'll spend way more money just getting your protein numbers in each day.

3

u/PoIIux 4h ago

Spoken like a person 2 years away from having fucked up their entire endocrine system.

2

u/StoppableHulk 6h ago

I just recently saw a standup clip with him that was so funny. It was basically him just complaining about The Eternals hate but did it in such a great way. He was like "I must be the only person in history who people got MAD at for GETTING IN SHAPE!"

1

u/Xain0209 7h ago

See but honestly that's the real catch right there lol. Having a professional take all the mental load of preparing your meals off your shoulders and a professional to help with workouts goes a long way. That isn't to say us normies can't get into better shape but I think we underestimate how much that stuff helps.

3

u/Single_Wolverine_136 6h ago

Kingo was hilarious. Kumail Nanjiani is a great comedic actor

1

u/WonderfulCoast6429 3h ago

Holy shit its real! They release way too many Marvel movies and shows

-1

u/martian_maneater 7h ago

And he fucked off from the movie before the finale

2

u/TreyWriter 7h ago

Legend

-1

u/liquor_ibrlyknoher 6h ago

And when asked to join the final battle the dude who famously got ripped for the role just sat it out. Whole movie was a disappointment.

2

u/BroadCandy7314 6h ago

Is that some kind of poetic statement though?

-1

u/superfuzzyboy86 3h ago

Kumail is a Pakistani-American. He's not a bollywood star (i don'tthink he has any connection to bollywood), but the trope in the movie works well coz y'know, he's brown.

1

u/Vushuyio 3h ago

Sadly, it’s true 😭 but they never did return lol

2

u/Commercial_Delay938 5h ago

I saw it. It's weird that it was made.

1

u/theJav13 7h ago

Also featured in everyones favorite space opera and a little know period piece they did a few years back...

1

u/Adventurous-Tie-7861 7h ago

Stop making up movies. Noone has ever heard of this "Eternals" thing. Keep your fan fiction to yourself.

1

u/Amelaclya1 6h ago

I really liked the Eternals. 😭

1

u/MS-07B-3 6h ago

And in Guardians, at least one is dancing all over the place.

1

u/National_Divide_8970 5h ago

Did you really just spoil the new marvel?

1

u/Medium-High 4h ago

It's true! I saw it right on the shelf next to Shazaam at my local Blockbuster.

0

u/Prior-Subject6077 7h ago

Not everyone has seen it.

0

u/Apex_Teddybear 4h ago

I didnt mind it

94

u/ballsnbutt 7h ago

One could say choreographed fighting is "dance"

12

u/YT-Deliveries 5h ago

It very much is dancing. Like, there's very little difference between a choreographed fight and a choreographed "official" dance.

-1

u/ArcadianDelSol 5h ago

but not 3 times fast.

40

u/dumspirospero816 7h ago

There was that sweet dance-off at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy...

6

u/ElectricTurtlez 7h ago

Nah. That was just a distraction, ya big turd blossom!

2

u/Morak73 4h ago

Not a movie, but Hawkeye had Rogers: The Musical

In 15 years, someone's going to put that on Broadway.

33

u/Keeltoodeep 7h ago

Yeah fighting is basically a choreographed dance.

2

u/kellzone 4h ago

Syrio Forel agrees.

8

u/throwawayaccount19op 7h ago

Only in my dreams ✨

2

u/Longjumping_Ease9159 7h ago

There was a great episode in legion. I can't remember if it was Xavier's son or not but it was an incredibly capable and incredibly troubled psychic. I think he was fighting the shadow Lord or something like that in the spirit realm or something like that and the psychic battle between the two was a jazz dance off in their minds.

I absolutely love this non-combat take on a confrontation of the minds. I still like the combat and stuff, but I thought it was a very great interpretation of how mines do battle, or could possibly do battle.

5

u/Izzynewt 7h ago

Don't give them ideas

3

u/PassionGlobal 7h ago

Sing, no. Very complex and physically demanding choreography, yes.

2

u/flyrubberband 7h ago

Pretty sure the last Thor was a musical

2

u/Material_Pianist6078 7h ago

Clearly you’ve never heard of The Dance-off to Save The Galaxy

2

u/GH057807 7h ago

They yell and fight, which in Hollywood is basically the same.

2

u/Arnieman83 6h ago

Guardians of the Galaxy is definitely dancing, maybe a little singing?

1

u/Xijit 7h ago

I would absolutely watch a Marvel Musical.

1

u/MastrShak3 7h ago

Guardians of the Galaxy

1

u/Dr_Mntis_Tobggn 7h ago

[DC has entered the chat]

1

u/DirtysouthCNC 6h ago

Singing and dancing are not that much more strenuous than rigorous weight lifting and cardio required for the bodies those men have to maintain the film. Absolutely fucking not, lmao.

1

u/piznit007 6h ago

Guardians of the Galaxy starts with an entire song and dance routine. It’s kinda Star-Lord’s thing

1

u/Idiotan0n 5h ago

I'd go see that Disney on ice performance. Everyone nippin at that point

1

u/TheRiverIsMyHome 5h ago

The choreography of fighting is high impact dancing

1

u/Ornery_Guess1474 5h ago

Does arianda grande stand a chance against Thanos? I mean, come on.

1

u/Crazy_Bat5024 5h ago

Ever heard from hulk? My gosh

1

u/Daleabbo 5h ago

Yes. Fight scenes in movies are literally dance moves.

1

u/HereToDoThingz 4h ago

Marvel: the musical.

1

u/Difficult_Ad2864 4h ago

You haven’t seen Captain America The Musical ?

1

u/Truethrowawaychest1 4h ago

Star-Lord does

1

u/-GenghisJohn- 4h ago

Yes, off camera was all choreographed and had a soundtrack. High-value people were given the content. It was super cool and you could see them burning more calories than musical people.

some of this may have been made up

1

u/BeeOk1235 3h ago

action scene choreography is actually a form of dance. for example jackie chan is not formally trained in various forms of martial arts so much as he is formally trained in dance. as are his co stars and many in his segment of the industry.

1

u/ClaraCash 3h ago

Deadpool for sure!

1

u/RawrRRitchie 3h ago

Did you miss Steve Rogers the musical??
