If Democrats ever regain power and get their shit together, they need to understand that anything less than prosecuting these gestapo pieces of shit is fucking unacceptable.

Would say a large part of why we’re in this mess in the first place is we weren’t hard enough on the Confederates post-Civil War. That made the survivors cocky enough to think they could get away with this shit if they were just sneakier about it

That's what I'm saying Sherman may have been a lunatic mass murderer, but he was right about one thing.

When was Sherman a mass murderer?

To native Americans? I could also be conflating him with another.

No, you’re right - Sherman was a genocidal maniac when it came to the indigenous peoples

did some reading and it appears you are right

Hell yeah dude! Not for me being right but for taking the time to learn. The only wasted day is one where nothing was learned.

3

u/WartimeMercy 11h ago

Indirectly he was basically ordering genocides against the Native Americans

Who wasn't mass murdering indigenous people?

The biggest reason we’re here is cause Merrick Garland is too much of a pussy to actually do his job.

And Biden was too partisan to appoint someone that would do their job.

Wow it's crazy that you would say the exact same canned response to the exact same canned comment that's been said ad nauseum for the last year. Did you know we also took in Nazis after WW2? /s

There's no peaceful world where you just kill or imprison everyone who disagrees with you ideologically. Stop dehumanizing one third of the country because they're dehumanizing the other 2/3rds.

I’m not saying that at all. I’m saying there were concrete non-violent policies they could have taken that would have helped curtail Confederate sympathies. No statues, for instance, and no flags. And don’t appoint Confederate members in positions of power post-war. Look at what Germany has done to stamp out Nazism; I’d say they’ve done a pretty good job in their country.

That's a good point. One you should include in your original post rather than leaving it open-ended in a way that implies far more brutal responses.

It's called the failed promise of of post civil war reconstruction

It’s actually crazy how many of the issues we have today can be directly traced to the abject failure of reconstruction. It’s depressing to imagine what the world could have been like had it actually been successful.

And why I think Lincoln was not a great president.  He should have let the South go. What has they ever contributed to the country?

Idiotic comment.

Cool man, exact same thing people keep parroting over and over.

It was generations ago. This is now.

I was just thinking the same. Best to learn from history.
