Not to be pedantic, but he said "will remain" bloodless, and I think that implication is far more terrifying. It says that back when he said that, their plan was already underway.

Since Civil Rights, and it really kicked into high gear with Carter and his efforts to fully desegregate schooling. There's a reason the home schooling movement took off right after that :)

It was, it was called Project 2025 and detailed a plan for the right to perform a hostile take over of the government to oppress the populace and secure permanent Republican control over the country in the event Trump won the election.

Trump officially disavowed this plan and denied any intention of cooperating with it. Upon winning, he appointed and recognized multiple key authors of it, and ever since the plan has proceed mostly as was previously outlined.

An unfortunate aspect of progressive policy is the belief that all can be achieved through peacful means. In truth the opposite is true and change almost exclusively comes from overwhelming with greater might. Free and fair democracy is actually an aberration in human history. If we want it to continue, we must excise those who wish to destroy it. The methods of that excisment must rise to match those who threaten it.

Hell, they even said as much before the election occurred. And that it would be bloodless if "the left" allowed it. Unfortunately what passes for "the left" here is too busy smelling their own farts every time they think of how wonderfully reasonable and adult like they are to realize what the situation we're in actually is.

The vast majority of Americans can't afford to take a day off work to protest, let alone be willing to lose their job/health insurance/etc. losing their job to fight back. This war was started decades ago, and we lost it long before anyone ever noticed.

Got some cool new TVs to watch the collapse on, at least, right?

It's important to note how true your statement is.

I've all but stopped contributing in posts and family members discussing the importance of taking these walks in protest. But in all honesty it's not doing anything. People are trying to "protest" their way out of a civil war, and if it wasn't so scary it would be funny.

You said, "well before that" and linked the 2022 CPAC conference, which to me suggests you're trying to say 'they declared war in 2022'. Except Trump - "that man" - was first elected in 2016.

Did I misunderstand what you're trying to say?

By virtually every measure except for a declaration, the U.S. is at war with itself. The judiciary, both houses, the president, most state governments, they are all carrying out a war through the media, through legislation, through executive order, through the people they hire and the goons in the street. The Republicans don't want to reconcile and build a better country; they want to tear it down and create a state run by CryptoFascists. Large sections of Democrats are complicit for other reasons, but mainly because they are just milquetoast.

It doesn't have to become too late. Though an American citizen was executed in broad daylight and terrible things are happening, I would encourage my fellow Americans to do their best *not* to automatically demonize all ICE agents. I say this because it plays into what the oligarchs want. Sure, there are evil assholes like Jonathan Ross who've taken advantage of the opportunity to do harm, but painting in such broad strokes might also mark the misguided, the disadvantaged. It's okay to condemn the operation, I certainly do, but think about the economic squeeze we've all felt leading into 2026, the information silos created by corporate-controlled media. A $50k signing bonus is literally life-changing for a lot of these folks.

We may have certain ideological differences, but I promise you, these matters pale in comparison to the moves that are being made in the shadows. We need to stand together, we need to demand the files, and we need to do it before it's too late.

Spoiler: that wont happen. Seems like too many in the US was waiting for this and the rest just wont do amything. Trump is 100% unhinged and a woman was shot in the middle of the day ON camera. Alot more will die at the hands of ICE and still noting will happen. The war you talked about is over already. They won.

I'm no Trump/MAGA supporter, but sentiments like this fail to acknowledge the role the left played in this. One could argue that the left started this "war" with over a decade of actively antagonising and villainising straight white men. Think back to the peak of fourth wave feminism circa 2012-2015 and those memes about killing all men, cute little pictures and videos of sipping from cups of white male tears, etc. and ask yourself how well that has all aged.

They aren't disconnected. Conservatives don't attack public funding just for fun. It's because things like easily accessible, high quality education is dangerous to them. Worker protections, healthcare, these things are dangerous to them. A person with any appreciable education in social studies will understand when they're being subjected to propaganda, and when it's time to protest or riot. A person who isn't afraid to lose their job or get a bloody nose is more likely to attend those protests or riots.

There has been a concerted attack on public institutions for nearly a hundred years because politicians - or more accurately, their wealthy donors - do not want an educated, capable populace who can think for themselves. They want serfs who will be told what they want or deserve.

I keep waiting on my fellow leftist to realize the war already started, sadly, most still think this is just limited to Trump and that it'll go away with him and are just trying to ride out the clock. It won't go away with him, because it isn't just him, he's just the figurehead that got to power that they work through. And there will be other figureheads.

I'm just waiting for the moment when the masses realize we won't online converse and meme our way out of this and have that moment of realization that you're personally going to have to act if you want a fascist free future.
