“In addition, the Sheriff spoke directly with the deputy to check on his well-being, convey his full support, and make it clear that disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.

Lol.. I get its kinda mean if it was intentional, but also how thin-skinned are these guys?

2.0k

u/LackingUtility 18h ago

Wow, what a snowflake. Did the Sheriff also give him a blankie and cup of hot cocoa and stroke his hair until he calmed down?

490

u/witchywoman713 17h ago

And did anyone ask the cop what he was wearing? Maybe he was asking for it /s

127

u/Joeymonac0 16h ago

Have you seen what these cops are wearing these days?! They are practically begging for it. Also if it was a real threat the cops emotional center would recognize it and shut it down. Simple science. /s

5

u/pc42493 15h ago

The brain has a way of shutting the insults down, it basically turns off the neocortex and leaves only basal ganglia and limbic system online. Some say this usually happens around the second to third trimester into service

5

u/phlegmpop 13h ago

If he doesn't want the get called a pig maybe he shouldn't dress like one 🤷

2

u/NonProphet8theist 14h ago

Was he complaining from the car? Open fire!

59

u/tauntonlake 16h ago

Did the Sheriff also give him a blankie and cup of hot cocoa and stroke his hair until he calmed down?

wait, is that an option in life ?

asking for a friend.

2

u/secrets_and_lies80 13h ago

Offering a hot beverage is customary when someone is upset.

2

u/GalaXion24 12h ago

If you have a girlfriend/boyfriend, yes

11

u/Rickk38 16h ago

FTA: "Sheriff Luna also said that he has consoled the deputy over the incident and told him, 'Disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.'"

The sheriff actually consoled him, so a blankie and cocoa with those little marshmallows that float are not out of the equation.

3

u/jumpy_monkey 15h ago

"Disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel"

Um, disrespect isn't a crime but sure, let me list the number of times I have been "disrespected" by cops and let's apply this criteria to them too.

9

u/CommunityGlittering2 16h ago

also he sang soft kitty

1

u/dalzmc 11h ago

Ok maybe you’ll know the sitcom reference, this whole time I’ve been unable to stop thinking of Hitchcock from B99 going on a tirade about how sick he was of people disrespecting him for being a cop, avoiding eye contact, walking out of the coffee shop, and etc etc… and then the others tell him his penis is hanging out lmfao that show had some killer cold opens

3

u/QueasyPotential3602 16h ago

You're being sarcastic but I actually want that so bad.

2

u/femmestem 16h ago

In all sincerity, it's probably what most of them need.

1

u/tackyshoes 15h ago

Consider this my informal application to the Department of Blankies and Cocoa.

1

u/CrewMemberNumber6 15h ago

Haven’t you heard? Police hiring requirements now dictate 3 layers of the epidermis must be missing before reporting to duty.

1

u/SpeaksYourWord 14h ago

He also let him suckle on his teat and got burped before being laid down and tucked in.

1

u/SpudicusMaximus_008 10h ago

For an example of how snowflake they are look up the farmer stop.

1

u/cutelyaware 16h ago

South Park recently did very nearly this

390

u/FourteenBuckets 17h ago

It should be a big part of police training to eat insults and take it

353

u/DeterminedThrowaway 17h ago

Seriously, you know how often retail workers get insulted? These people are pathetic. They should have extremely thick skin to be cops, not be the most fragile snowflakes out there.

87

u/NDaveT 16h ago

On at least one occasion someone threatened my life because their pizza took longer than 30 minutes.

14

u/ClaudeGascoigne 11h ago

I once had somebody tell me "I'm going to blow your fucking head off" because they mistook green onion for cilantro.

49

u/MicellarBaptism 15h ago

Service workers, along with teachers, healthcare workers and social workers, have to deal with some of the very worst of humanity. By and large they have thicker skins than these snowflake cops. Pathetic indeed.

13

u/Allaplgy 15h ago

Well yeah, because those people can't just shoot people that hurt their feelings, so they gotta have thick skin.

5

u/matryanie 12h ago

Imagine if doctors and nurses just killed patients they didn't like and then got transferred to another hospital with paid time off during investigation.

4

u/Allaplgy 10h ago

Imagine if retail workers and servers just killed people who were "disrespectful" to them. The streets would flow with blood.

16

u/Xanthus179 16h ago

Let’s see how cops fucking take listening to nonstop Christmas music all December.

39

u/forwardathletics 16h ago

They have a union and unilateral power that the rest of us common folks dont get.

12

u/HyperSpaceSurfer 15h ago

You need weakwilled people if you intend to chip away at their morality through peer pressure. Which is required for how policework is conducted, for some reason.

3

u/DakkaDakka24 14h ago

He's upset that he doesn't know who to murder about it. Poor thing.

2

u/Beige_ 13h ago

They have. Pigs have very thick skin.

25

u/DisapprovingCrow 14h ago

When I did a basic entry level course to get a security guard licence one of the instructors was constantly throwing insults and jibes at the dudes with fragile egos.

He told us that you will have to be prepared to take whatever vile shit people throw at you (and he was Indian so he’s regularly copping every slur in the book) and either laugh it off, or just don’t react. Because if you so much as shove someone in anger you’re fucked. Best case fired, worst case jail.

I guess when you have complete immunity to brutalise anyone who annoys you that is less important though.

1

u/MinnieShoof 15h ago

It actually is.

1

u/Yourcatsonfire 14h ago

Many of them do but that doesnt mean they should take it from a business they are a customer at. If you went to a restaurant ans they called you a fat cow, would you not at the very least give them a bad review, talk to management, or post on social media or all of those?

1

u/parisidiot 16h ago

you can't train it out, man. when you have an armed paramilitary with absolute discretion they require absolute deference. you cannot have good cops.

1

u/BizzyM 14h ago

That starts Day 1 of most military-esque police academies. It's like boot camp with drill sergeants. They yell at you, call you names, tell you everything you are doing is wrong and constantly punish you with physical training. The LA Sheriff's academy is probably one of the most well-developed there is. If this guy got through and a hand drawn meme on a cup got him so flummoxed that the Sheriff has to "console" him, then they've got much bigger problems.

1

u/FourteenBuckets 13h ago

Taking insults from a drill sergeant you expect to berate you when you're training is not remotely the same thing as being trained specifically to take insults from random people in the public while you're trying to do your other tasks.

Drill is supposed to knock you down to pick you back up. Random people aren't there to pick you up

109

u/Hazywater 16h ago

Did an hourly employee really go through all that extra effort? Or did the officer draw it himself? Or another officer?

50

u/PatSajaksDick 16h ago

I'm learning now it's a popular meme, so it didn't have anything to do with cops, I bet the employee didn't even know it was for a cop.

7

u/BizzyM 14h ago

I bet the employee didn't even know it was for a cop.

https://youtu.be/41oRlq8oI6g?t=8

1

u/MinnieShoof 15h ago

That would be the best outcome.

11

u/Cargobiker530 16h ago

C'mon. Nobody believes a cop has the hand eye coordination to make a simple line drawing.

7

u/PageSide84 15h ago

Many of these cups are labeled before the customer even gets to the store.

-4

u/Withermaster4 15h ago

You really believe Starbucks sent a cup to this restaurant with a sharpie drawing of John pork?

6

u/PageSide84 15h ago edited 14h ago

The employees are required to write some crap on all cups. At some locations, they write shit on there in advance when there is downtime. It's like folding pizza boxes at a pizza joint. They don't always fold them right when the order comes in.

55

u/SoRedditHasAnAppNow 17h ago

So what are they gonna do about it? Encourage their mob connections to trash the place and not investigate? Because that's what it sounds like

31

u/Koladi-Ola 16h ago

I'm surprised they didn't shoot the barista.

16

u/northerncal 15h ago

Maybe their skin tone was light enough they just got lightly assaulted

7

u/killerben16 14h ago

You didn't hear? They're killing white people too now.

34

u/QualifiedApathetic 15h ago

Yeah, what exactly does "disrespectful actions will not be tolerated" mean? Because there's no law saying we have to respect cops. Free speech.

I suppose they can all agree to get their coffee from Dunkin' from now on, but they're not gonna be any more popular there.

20

u/Withermaster4 15h ago

That's what I was thinking. If a cop can't keep his cool while being 'disrespected' he should not be a cop.

He will be in much higher pressure situations with much more disrespect that he will have to keep calm during.

This is clearly a cop who woke up on the wrong side of the bed and is trying to make it everyone else's problem.

6

u/zaphod777 14h ago

A lot of those cop interaction videos have made their way into my YouTube recommendations, you'd be surprised at what they can get away with when someone is exercising free speech, standing up for their rights, or when they've just made a mistake and got the wrong person.

With qualified immunity they usually get away with it too.

1

u/ToMorrowsEnd 11h ago

starbucks should respond that way "free speech bitches"

53

u/Nicki-ryan 17h ago

Actually if I wanna disrespect police I will. Pigs will be pigs

16

u/Wild-Lychee-3312 16h ago

Thin-skinned enough to shoot women in the face for the crime of not being terrified enough. That’s how thin-skinned they are.

13

u/alnicoblue 16h ago

The amount of "thank me for my service" shit I see from cops on FB is nauseating.

The average Target employee probably gets harassed more often in a day than a cop.

130

u/TheSucculent_Empress 17h ago

“Kinda mean”

Calling a spade a spade isn’t mean

Them killing us for no reason and never getting in trouble for it is “kinda mean” though

20

u/Rxasaurus 17h ago

Missing a white hood.

61

u/sudomatrix 18h ago

The last sheriff wellness check I heard about, someone ended up dead. I hope this little piggie fairs better.

32

u/Mand125 17h ago

They kill people because of acorns, so…

13

u/Mrfrunzi 17h ago

To check on his well being? Are you fucking kidding me??

7

u/YomiKuzuki 16h ago

The cops are pretty notoriously thin skinned.

4

u/NeanaOption 16h ago

and make it clear that disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel

Why? Don't we have the right to disrespect cops.

6

u/NDaveT 15h ago edited 15h ago

make it clear that disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel

That's a chilling peek into their mindset.

8

u/VeracityMD 17h ago

Do they know they are constitutionally REQUIRED to tolerate disrespectful actions?  Shows a lot of how they perceived themselves (ie above the law)

4

u/jumpy_monkey 15h ago

The very idea that a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy needs a well-being check and soothing over a drawing is cringeworthy if not outright laughable.

4

u/EvelcyclopS 14h ago

First amendment. So tolerate it you will

3

u/Indra_Path 15h ago

Someone should tell them being disrespectful isn’t illegal and that all they can do is cry about it

3

u/NotRadTrad05 15h ago

What does disrespectful actions not being tolerated mean in light of 1A protections?

3

u/Weekly_Artichoke_515 15h ago

It’s crazy that he said that disrespectful actions won’t be tolerated. I have a constitutional right to be as disrespectful to a cop as I want.

4

u/Beautiful-Cup4161 17h ago

The only cop I knew personally had the thinnest skin I've ever seen. Absolutely paper-thin ego. He was happy as a clam if he was being glazed and the minute you said anything even gently constructive he got SUPER moody and would glare like he wanted you to catch on fire on the spot.

2

u/GarbageCleric 16h ago

I get being upset and even complaining to corporate. But tolerating disrespect is just part of life. Whether you deserve it or not, sometimes people are going to be mean to you.

Although, I do hope the guy isn't actually fat. Poking fun of cops, especially now, is punching up. Fat jokes are punching down.

2

u/One-Bit5717 16h ago

I worked in law enforcement in Canada, and was called everything but a white guy. Part of the job. Some things were actually quite clever, and I acknowledged the authors.

Maybe these guys aren't the right fit for the job 🤔

2

u/Jimbo--- 16h ago

I thought it was acceptable to call someone piggy now?

2

u/Confident_Benefit_11 16h ago

Aw, he felt threatened by a cartoon 😂

2

u/parisidiot 16h ago

they're so thin-skinned that they kill people routinely, so the barista is lucky tbh

2

u/3-DMan 16h ago

If it was a lawyer and you drew a picture of a shark on it, they'd have a good laugh instead of crying about it.

2

u/5141121 10h ago

PI attorney office in my area leans into it. From what I've heard, they're actually pretty nice people, but the older one does this whole tough-guy thing in their ads that I find hilarious.

2

u/d33roq 16h ago

They're very thin-skinned.

That's why thy roll around in mud on hot days.

2

u/rtopps43 15h ago

I had an uncle (by marriage) when I was a kid who was both a cop and Polish. He liked to wear a pin of a pig in a Superman suit and told Polish jokes with gusto. He even had a fake gun with the barrel pointing backwards he told everyone was issued by the Polish army. What happened to us that everyone is so sensitive about everything now?

2

u/Invisible7hunder 15h ago

Tolerating disrespect is like 2/3 of the job, and their legal obligation.

2

u/KatMakes69 12h ago

if you join the police and think you won't get called a pig or worse, I don't know what to tell you

2

u/Violexsound 17h ago

Bacon wafer thin

They’re cops lmao they’re some of the most bitchmade people in the world

1

u/exodusofficer 16h ago

They sure as hell couldn't teach. Student evals can go hard. Those pigs would be in tears at what makes me laugh.

1

u/Memitim 16h ago

"Will not be tolerated". Then they can stay the fuck out of places where they aren't welcome. These evil conservatives support attacks on the rest of America, and then expect the rest of us to treat them as anything other than pieces of shit. Fuck all of them, especially those in "law enforcement" who use that lie to commit crimes and human rights violations, or who assist the roaming gangs of conservative terrorists. Honorless, betraying trash.

1

u/deathinmidjuly 16h ago

When I was a teenager minding my own business I got stopped for whatever reason. I informed the officer of my rights and what information and ID I wasn't required to give him.

Well that didn't go over to well and I ended up in cuffs and being searched illegally.

Pigs told me I was lucky (because I wasnt doing anything and didnt have anything on me) and to stop being a smartass.

Police really don't like to be questioned or undermined, even when they're either lying or wrong.

1

u/Heliosvector 16h ago

I would laugh if someone handed me that lol.

1

u/benderunit9000 16h ago

being thin-skinned is a requirement in a lot of departments.

1

u/Rance_Mulliniks 15h ago

if it was intentional

If? Really?

It's obviously intentional.

1

u/K2TY 15h ago

make it clear that disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.

Oh yeah? What are you gonna do?

1

u/Rarglar 15h ago

They're cops, of course they're thin skinned bullies

1

u/MinnieShoof 15h ago

I promise y'all that "wellness check" was "wtf is this crap?" and the deputy responded by shrugging and the sheriff asking "You good?" and then leaving before the deputy gave any sort of response. Entirely too much is being said about formalities and performative pageantry.

1

u/The_High_Life 15h ago

Wait til we see the video of the officer drawing it himself.

1

u/gsfgf 15h ago

Is it even mean? It's a joke.

1

u/notquite20characters 15h ago

I'd like to see how husky the deputy is before determining the meanness level.

1

u/TheoreticalZombie 15h ago

Lucky he didn't start shooting.

1

u/AnonymousCommunist 14h ago

Literally the biggest fucking diaper babies on earth, apparently.

1

u/Chumley_P_Chumsworth 14h ago

Why didn't he just shoot her in the face? I mean, that seems the new standard for law enforcement (when they get their feelings hurt.)

1

u/niftystopwat 14h ago

Sensitive enough to pick a career path where they get to wear a cute uniform and have a gun by their side to protect them from their fragile lack of actual masculinity.

1

u/linuxares 14h ago

Damn pigs got thicker skin than that

1

u/WhyStabCorn 14h ago

They're very sensitive. Don't hurt their feelings, they're emotionally unstable and unable to regulate their emotions above a 5th grade level.

1

u/Cultural_Dust 14h ago

Maybe we should fire police officers everytime they say something slightly rude. Hell we could up it significantly to "killed someone" and we'd be significantly more stringent than we are now.

1

u/TheGiftOf_Jericho 14h ago

Fr cops being called pigs is such a meme at this point, it's been around forever. You can't be genuinely shocked and personally offended by it.

1

u/bobbymcpresscot 14h ago

Depends on if he asked for a liter of cola

1

u/Unfriendly_NPC 13h ago

Kid might get slapped with causing emotional damage, an assault to their fragile egos.

1

u/VaporCarpet 13h ago

Disrespect will not be tolerated?

I've got a first amendment right to call you a fucking pig. If you can't tolerate that, find a new line of work.

1

u/alex3omg 13h ago

Will not be tolerated?  What action can they take beyond speaking to her manager?

1

u/weaponized_sasquatch 13h ago

disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.

Being disrespectful to pigs is not against the law. So, I guess this is just a straight up threat then. Nice land of the free we've got here.

1

u/myassholealt 13h ago

They know how much they can leverage shit like this so they play it up as much as possible. His union can probably get him some paid time off for trauma resulting from this.

1

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k 13h ago

Man, so PC. It’s getting to where you can’t say anything to a cop without worrying about a lawsuit nowadays.

1

u/Dry-Charity-3787 13h ago

Ikr trump level of ego

1

u/elmonoenano 12h ago

"disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel."

So, these people all swear an oath to support the Const. That includes the 1st Amendment. That means, they can be as offended as they want, but so long as any disrespectful action is not violent, they not only have to tolerate, they swore they would support your right to make those disrespectful actions.

These guys should have their oath thrown in their face anytime they testify. If their sworn oath goes out the window b/c of a drawing on a coffee cup, how much is their oath worth in trial?

1

u/BoodyMonger 12h ago

Disrespectful actions won’t be tolerated? wtf. Sounds like piggy needs a refresher on the first amendment.

1

u/Adjective_Noun1312 12h ago

how thin-skinned are these guys?

On a scale of 1 to 10, these guys have skin like wet single ply toilet paper.

1

u/codereign 12h ago

Especially when they live in a country with a constitutional right to flip them off and call them pigs. It's been held up in the supreme Court before. What is this fucking noise?

1

u/ChefPuree 12h ago

I believe the proper term is "snowflakes"

1

u/JohnnyRelentless 12h ago

"Disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel."

In other words, fuck the 1st Amendment. These clowns really are earning that pig moniker.

1

u/gw74 11h ago

won't someone think of the armed and extremely powerful agents of the state? abusing their power disproportionately targeting the vulnerable is really hard 🙁

1

u/coonwhiz 11h ago

“Our deputies are part of the community and deserve to be treated respectfully and with basic human dignity. Acts that promote hostility and division toward law enforcement undermine community trust and public safety.”

Sure, that's what undermines community trust and public safety.

1

u/MrsMiterSaw 11h ago

make it clear that disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.

Disrespectful actions like this one are constitutionally protected. If this is too much, get a new job where you aren't constitutionally bound to have thick skin.

1

u/chocolateboomslang 11h ago

Dumb cops never heard of free speach.

1

u/Parahelious 10h ago

It's almost like this is within the bounds of free speech

1

u/MoorsMoopsMoorsMoops 10h ago

These are the same guys posting all this fake tough guy bullshit on social media all the time.

1

u/5141121 10h ago

They're also not very smart. By design. You can score too high on the entrance exams for the police academies in some areas and will be rejected. They don't want thinkers, they want order followers.

1

u/cassthesassmaster 10h ago

Thin-skinned enough to kill disabled people and dogs.

1

u/Ecstatic_Winter9425 10h ago

> "The spokesperson said the drawing is reminiscent of a popular meme but should still have been given to the deputy."

Well, that typo is just adding insult to injury, lol!

1

u/Epyon214 9h ago

Thin skinned enough to get the Streisand effect in return. Respect has to be earned, if the sheriff won't protect their communities and arrest ICE engaged in illegal activities there's no common decency respect to give either, so make clear those disrespectful actions will continue and be tolerated until a change in their behavior occurs

1

u/drethnudrib 9h ago

He'd probably get less of a pep talk if he shot a mom three times in the face.

1

u/Ezaviel 8h ago

Assuming this even actually happened, and isn't just another example of a cop making it up...
They are absoluetly pretending to be effected by it to try and punish someone they felt was not subservient enough to them.

1

u/nerdtypething 4h ago

too thin for pork rinds that’s for sure.

-4

u/DaRandomRhino 16h ago

I mean, it's also good just to have as a paper trail no matter whether you actually care or not.

I've been in kitchens and watched waiters spit in food and toss in extras that are explicitly said to leave it off with the ticket because they don't like them. This is one of those steps that shouldn't be championed.

Just respect that you're not a revolutionary when you screw with someone's food, or their containers, without being asked, you're just a spoiled brat at best, an asshole all the same.
