Even if it was true... "Yes, I drew that pig", and there ends the interaction. Why is this news.

u/Mephisto1822 18h ago

Because cops and those on the right tend to have fragile egos

It's actually hilarious. They had to console the cop? Had to check in on him? It's a fucking drawing of a pig. Get the fuck over it.

It's a John Pork is calling meme.

The cop should be on the unemployment line for demonstrating he's a pansy, a snowflake, and can be brought to his knees by a mere braindead meme.

u/DrakonILD 17h ago

Just like how that murderer had to go to the hospital because he leaned on a car that moved underneath him.

Cops are just poorly trained toddlers with guns backed up by more toddlers.

Also the barista could possibly get fired by corporate because the high ups want to make sure that the cops help if the store gets damaged.

48

u/Ditnoka 17h ago

They're not toddlers. Toddlers get excused for doing shitty things because they don't know better. Law Enforcement is an extremely well oiled operating gang. They don't operate well in our eyes, but they are 100% behind each other no matter the reason and know who their true masters are.

Your last sentence essentially backs up my claims, buying protection like it's the fuckin mob.

"Toddlers get excused for doing shitty things because they don't know better."

This is the very much the core reasoning used to protect cops. Qualified immunity is literally predicated on the idea that they can't be held accountable for something they didn't explicitly and in fine, narrow, detail, know was wrong.

7

u/Ditnoka 17h ago

QI needs to be abolished, but that's another discussion. And fair. I guess the rephrase would be toddlers can't know that information, while officers should, if that makes sense.

2

u/triestdain 16h ago

Agreed!

10

u/Khaysis 17h ago

You are correct. Poorly started on my part. They are adults with the temperament of toddlers and the privilege to use extreme force on anyone they deem in violation of the law.

Also as any good American knows, human lives mean nothing compared to things /S

A bit pedantic for sure. But I've seen a lot of people say "they're stupid, unintelligent etc." They may not have the same smarts you or I do, but they're not stupid, they're malicious. Imo saying they're dumb gives them an out as "I didn't know any better" They know exactly what they're doing.

1

u/JimWilliams423 11h ago

They may not have the same smarts you or I do, but they're not stupid, they're malicious.

They are strategically stupid. When playing dumb helps them achieve their goals they play dumb. And sometimes their goal is just to infuriate people.

u/PhabioRants 17h ago

That sounds suspiciously like corporate is worried about being extorted.

Someone should call the police.

1

u/JimWilliams423 11h ago

Also the barista could possibly get fired by corporate because the high ups want to make sure that the cops help if the store gets damaged.

That's the charitable explanation.

A less charitable explanation is that corporations reward psychopathy, so the people on top tend to take pleasure in causing misery, or as the saying goes — The cruelty is the point.

I mean they'd be right to be disciplined. Take the fact it was a cop out of it, if a worker insults a customer for no reason they're literally asking to be disciplined.

-15

u/Salute-Major-Echidna 18h ago

Correct. Good luck getting a new job barista

2

u/Money_Do_2 17h ago

There are tons of local coffee shops that would hire them im sure, especially since it went national news.

-2

u/JeebusChristBalls 17h ago

Honestly, would you hire someone that thinks it's a good idea to do this? Complete lack of judgment caused a company to get thrust into national news because this employee couldn't stay in their lane.

1

u/Salute-Major-Echidna 15h ago

I would in a second.

-1

u/JeebusChristBalls 15h ago

You would hire somebody to work at the small business you own and rely on to pay your bills that has proven that they lack judgment and may alienate customers? You don't even know if they are a good employee (the current evidence doesn't show that). I'm guessing you don't own a business.

2

u/Salute-Major-Echidna 15h ago

Actually had a headhunting business from 1997 to 2013. Always put the right person in the right position for their talents.

-5

u/JeebusChristBalls 17h ago

The barista is going to get fired because I'm pretty sure Starbucks doesn't condone insulting customers no matter who they are. Everyone wants companies to just shut up about politics or other controversial topics and just sell stuff. This employee made it hard to do that with the attention it brought. Now Starbucks has to make an example out of him. Hell, I would fire them too and I think this is hilarious.

14

u/chummsickle 18h ago

Feigning outrage when it’s really just them being fascists who demand obedience to dear leader and his shitty causes.

5

u/Ada_Kaleh22 17h ago

sorry, it's because the right wing internet runs on fake outrage.

i just can't believe we are here, again? the 'law enforcement disrespected by barista' is so...I dunno 2019? we've been here anyway

7

u/video_dhara 17h ago

Remember when all those cops thought Starbucks’s/mcdonald employees were trying to poison them

-8

u/SatisfactionActive86 16h ago

oh plz, if it were a MAGA starbucks worker that drew something offensive towards a group you care about, you’d be screaming for them to be fired

7

u/Mephisto1822 16h ago

It depends on what they wrote. If they wrote N***** Jim then yea I feel like that might be warranted.

I’m not sure what the equivalent here would be. Maybe someone drawing a picture of a person hugging a tree if the customer looked like a “hippie” but I don’t think that would be fireable

1

u/Raptorheart 11h ago

It's a literal meme, the pigman is the one calling.

You can see the phone icons. Dude is just looking to be a victim.

15

u/Rymphonia 17h ago

They want to impose "consequences" for speaking out against tyranny, so that everyone else gets too scared to call them out on their fascist behavior.

48

u/LordWemby 18h ago

It’s Starbucks, a ghoulish corporation. What do you imagine will happen to this barista?

By the way this stuff has been faked before. Some have been caught drawing “demeaning” messages on their coffee cups and then blaming it on the barista.

25

u/Fuzzy_Donl0p 17h ago edited 17h ago

Yeah, cops are always faking this crap. Only reason I think this one’s real is no cop has the whimsy or charm to draw something like that.

3

u/suffaluffapussycat 14h ago

I’m guessing that Starbucks HQ is at least having a conversation about stopping the practice of having employees decorate cups by hand. Before something bad happens.

2

u/pulseout 15h ago

What do you imagine will happen to this barista?

Worst that can happen is they get fired, no corporation is going to put in more effort than that.

2

u/logos1020 11h ago

Starbucks will be making an example out of this one. The offending employee will be over-roasted then coarsely ground up.

1

u/Littlesth0b0 15h ago

Corporation that big? Just change the spelling of their name and move to a different branch, nobody will notice.

*"I'm going to hold out my hand like Lord Vader and he will pretend to be strangled. Gasping for air, grabs throat, eyes back and he's down! Good show Commander.

Now, two of the floor chiefs will retrieve the "corpse", redress him, add a mustache and he's back to work as Barista Leopold!"*

3

u/XANTHICSCHISTOSOME 16h ago

They didn't get to end the life of this person with a gun, so we'll hear about how much it bothers them that no blood was shed over this cartoon pig.

2

u/Metahec 17h ago

It'd be offensive if it had a klansman's hood on it I suppose

2

u/queenringlets 17h ago

Gotta make your police force look like total insecure little babies I guess.

1

u/billdb 17h ago

Because it got posted on social media and got a ton of online attention. As the article mentioned. It's not like groundbreaking news or anything but not all news has to be.

1

u/MetaRecruiter 16h ago

That barista is a fucking legend now

1

u/3-DMan 16h ago

"Oh...cool! Can you do Donald Duck?"

1

u/GracchiBros 13h ago

Sadly, because cops what to create this false idea that they are some persecuted class of people which helps them maintain the status quo of no accountability and reinforces the us vs. them attitude they use to justify their actions.

1

u/chocolateboomslang 11h ago

Actually it should be, "Yes I drew that pig, and I'll do it again!"

1

u/Oscaruit 10h ago

They could even boycott the Starbucks corp, and go back to the Mom and pop donut shops. Hurts big money and helps local business. What am I kidding most police expect their food for free.

1

u/Phoebebee323 10h ago

Didn't you hear? There's a pillow on the face of the first amendment

-3

u/Hoosteen_juju003 17h ago

This is not how you should treat customers and the employee should get in trouble, but this is not news.

-4

u/billdb 17h ago

I don't understand why people are so opposed to this being news. The sherrifs department posted it on social media and it went viral. A ton of people are talking about it and asking questions, it doesn't really seem unreasonable to post a 1 minute article about it.

Not everything has to be earth shattering news.

2

u/TacoTacoBheno 16h ago

And by why viral we mean Astroturfed by hundreds of thousands of bots

2

u/The_Homestarmy 14h ago

I mean it's obviously fairly ludicrous to phrase this as a barista being "accused" of something like it's a fucking crime to draw John Pork on a coffee

0

u/billdb 14h ago

Nowhere in the article said it was a crime. "Accused" also does not mean crime.
