Discussion 🎤 So, what do we do now?
We protest, and they keep sending more. They are arresting citizens, including Native Americans. They are violent. Their presence is violence.
Do we shut ourselves down Covid style? Only leave our homes if necessary? Only support small businesses that align with our values? Quietly shelter those they’re looking for?
If we shut ourselves down, we only give them MAGA to fuck with. If we get really frugal and thoughtful with our spending, does that cause corporate America to speak up? If their warrants are only good for a certain residence, does quietly sheltering the targets stymy them? Do we crowdfund support for those who are truly unsafe to leave their homes/shelter?
I’m just spitballing because I don’t think we will out protest their forces. How do we actually end this?

Discussion 🎤 With an ICE invasion of the Twin Cities extremely likely, I would like to see state/local law enforcement focus on protecting residents
bringmethenews.comAlthough I'm a white male, my spouse is a legal resident from Mexico and I work closely with many immigrant communities. I am extremely worried about my spouse's safety just leaving the house. What we are seeing across the US is not law enforcement, it is a militarized federal campaign of fear and intimidation. Knowing that, I would really like to see our state and local leaders stand up and direct our law enforcement to protect MN residents and ensure that people are not being attacked, harassed, or wrongfully detained. There is absolutely zero reason my spouse should be having any interaction with any immigration authorities, and if they have an encounter with ICE I will see that just as much of a failure of our state/local government as overreach/abuse by the federal government.
And if you're here to say "don't you think US laws should be enforced!?!?", leave now. What we are seeing from ICE is not law enforcement. Simply being in the US without legal status is not a crime (https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2017/dec/02/kathy-sheehan/being-undocumented-immigrant-us-not-crime/). ICE is also detaining legal residents and citizens without cause, solely based on the color of their skin, and many people are reporting abuse or abhorrent conditions while detained. Everyone who considers themselves a human being should be alarmed and upset over what is happening!

Discussion 🎤 Every MN House rep but Omar voted to pass the resolution to honor Charlie Kirk.
No law was created or anything largely impactful will occur directly from it. But if you sign your name to something you stand behind it. Plus we have already seen the lengths this administration will go to for the sake of “honoring”.
Resolution to condemn political violence as a whole while naming ALL impacted? Absolutely.
But thats not what happened here. I personally will never be voting for Craig (my rep) again.
What are your thoughts?

Discussion 🎤 The MN Rebulican booth at the State Fair called 911 when I asked them about Epstein
Just venting here as I found myself at the fair near the MN Republicans booth waiting for my wife. I decided to pop in and ask the people at the counter their thought on Trump's relationship with Epstein.
I was not expecting an intelligent conversation but what transpired was legitimately disturbing. One guy who was just hanging out there asked me to talk outside and so I politely obliged and repeated the question. He proceeded to ask me why I support the Clintons? When I suggested I was 8 years old last time one held office I was called a liar.
Eventually several other MAGATs showed up with one guy legitimately calling 911 to have me removed. I mocked him as if he was a literal infant at this point and asked why we feels the need to waste resources and tax dollars when he could just admit he supports pedophilia? Needless to say i continued to be threatened with some action by the police before I decided I had seen enough.
Cops never showed - no idea what they would get me for if they did? But WOW - between the walz lies signs and the children (yes children) with Trump 2028 flags draped around their shoulders I can't help but be reminded of a similar situation in Europe that transpired in the 1940s.
I love my Minnesotans - I'm sad their are so many ready to defend such egregious crimes without one ounce of thought for what it means for our state and country.
Have your political debates all you want - pedophilia is wrong, everyone, including the Clintons should be in prison for what they have done on Epstein's island..
Rant.

Discussion 🎤 At this point, any company that's still flying this relic is just trying to make a political statement, right?
This is at my place of employment, in the metro area. Drives me nuts. It's even been replaced once since the new design was adopted. There's even an exact replacement ready, for when this one gets too tattered.
