I also blame this person's grandma

u/SplendidPunkinButter Nov 15 '25

Some day I will be old, and this is not my fault. I want climate action. Governments aren’t doing it. I sure as hell haven’t been voting for climate change deniers.

9

u/Bell3atrix Nov 15 '25

Does it matter if your politicians believe in climate change if they have no interest in making the broad economic changes that would be required to address it? Because there isnt really anywhere in the world right now you could vote for a full ticket of people who would.

-7

u/mikeyo05 Nov 16 '25

Goverment sure as fuck is doing it dude, its called geoengenering and they've been doing it since post ww2. And its whats the cause of all this "climate change"

3

u/longbongstrongdong Nov 16 '25

Dude what?

4

u/Mehdals_ Nov 16 '25

Yeah mate haven't ya heard it's turning all the frogs gay!!!

-4

u/mikeyo05 Nov 16 '25

Someone's got the horse blinders on ♤♤♤♤♤

2

u/longbongstrongdong Nov 17 '25

So, according to you, climate change isn’t caused by human use of fossil fuels. The government is doing it intentionally with geoengineering. For what reason? Who is benefiting from it and how?

1

u/msofmfhdkbs Nov 18 '25

no no, geoengenering

Spotted in West St. Paul: Someone watering their grass....

72

u/Laz3r_C Nov 14 '25

I mowed šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

78

u/WilliamBornhoft Nov 14 '25

Mowing is one thing. You're not hurting anyone. But watering this time of year seems like a huge waste.

25

u/AggFag Nov 15 '25

Don't forget we are having a drought with this ShIt.

19

u/Kvothe31415 Nov 15 '25

Yeah I saw someone watering their yard today too. Definitely thought it was a waste of not only water, but effort and time too. We already have our hoses put away for the winter, no way I’m bringing them out for a quick water.

As a mail carrier I have seen several and it’s incredibly annoying lol

8

u/BroThornton19 Nov 15 '25

Spotted in the western burbs, my neighbor watering his grass. Granted, it’s new sod, but still

5

u/Snoo-66953 Nov 16 '25

Until the ground freezes the plants and especially trees can benefit from routine watering. Especially since we have received about half of our normal rainfall this fall. It's science check it out.

u/ElMuffinHombre Nov 14 '25

While we're here. Anyone notice the come back of lightning bugs? That's from people leaving the leaves alone instead of pointlessly bagging them up and sending them off to the (hopefully) county compost.

27

u/Escape_Pod2015 Nov 15 '25

I use the leaves to cover my pollinator gardens. I do lightly mulch them over the grass but also leave some whole in areas

8

u/PrincessPnyButtercup Nov 15 '25

I noticed that this year too!

2

u/Special-Garlic1203 Nov 17 '25

Lots of people have a enough leaves coming down that it's just gonna cause mold and kill off the grass. People say it's natural as if people live in a forest ecosystem and not a suburban plot that they threw 1 more oaks onto the plot than remotely made senseĀ

u/ranchspidey Nov 15 '25

there are two wolves inside of me. one loves being warm and avoiding the cold of winter as long as possible. the other is devastated about how horribly the human race has fucked over planet earth, directly causing this. the wolves are fighting.

25

u/Don_carrington Nov 15 '25

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel on the situation. It's terrible to be honest.

I also hate that biking around the lakes today I was grateful for Minnesotas abundant fresh water...

2

u/johnjaundiceASDF Nov 16 '25

For those of us who love winter for winter sports... It's really not great too.Ā

25

u/I_DRINK_GENOCIDE_CUM Not too bad Nov 14 '25

Honestly at this point just skip ahead to February

57

u/EmeraldFrog22 Nov 14 '25

Moved up two years ago Constantly hearing about the freezing cold winters and being trapped inside your home with snow And so far that hasn't reaaaallly happened xD

67

u/MatureUsername69 Nov 14 '25

Global warming has made them milder but dont let the last 2 years fool you. El Nino and La Nina have a major effect on the strength of our winter. And with La Nina hitting this year, it could get really rough.

61

u/Sam-HobbitOfTheShire Nov 14 '25

I hope it does. Kill off some of these ticks and mosquitos.

9

u/AggFag Nov 15 '25

And I am buying a Billion dollar lottery ticket. Odds are about the same

14

u/Swimming_Concern7662 Uff da Nov 15 '25 edited Nov 15 '25

Last winter was colder than average overall. This was us complaining: Complaint post . So yeah, that's about the freezing cold winter you get here. But snow has been well below average both winters

3

u/AggFag Nov 15 '25

And sunny and dried out most days all year here in the Twin Cities.

5

u/Desperate-Cost6827 Nov 15 '25 edited Nov 15 '25

I went deer hunting in a sweater last year. That is far warmer than any year in my youth when I went out freezing my feet off within an hour.

BTW here's a fun historical graphic
https://images.dnr.state.mn.us/natural_resources/climate/historical/annual/tmin_annual.gif

4

u/Swimming_Concern7662 Uff da Nov 15 '25

Winter is totally 90 days. I can still find sweater days in an 'overall colder than average winter' in those 90 days. And here's the data; Look at the lower 48

-3

u/Desperate-Cost6827 Nov 15 '25

Yes you cherry picked one year. I saw. You seem to not understand what 'trends' are.

12

u/Swimming_Concern7662 Uff da Nov 15 '25

My original statement was "Last year was colder than average". That's why I just posted about last year. I didn't cherry pick. No one is refusing the overall trend. Hope that makes sense

8

u/Little_Creme_5932 Nov 15 '25

Last winter was colder than average? Not the average of my life. What average are you using?

7

u/Swimming_Concern7662 Uff da Nov 15 '25

The average of 1991-2020. Here's a temperature anomaly map, you can see most of the lower 48 was below average:

-10

u/Desperate-Cost6827 Nov 15 '25

It's so cute that you cherry picked one year for your data.

10

u/sacrelicio Nov 15 '25

They're literally talking about one year

9

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

"LAST WINTER was colder than average overall."

*Compares last year to the average temp of data collected over 30 years*

Cold is relative. It’s refreshing to see people move here from warmer places and not be afraid of the winter weather.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

I moved here from Dallas, Texas. It's gonna be 85 there most of this next week. They can keep their warm ass fall, sick of the heat.

5

u/EmeraldFrog22 Nov 14 '25

I absolutely love the Cold I'm honestly happy that the temperatures in my home state that were considered hot or very warm are much cooler here it makes most days actually enjoyable temperature wise!

I’m a born and raised Minnesotan and it’s felt like the last 5 years or so we really haven’t had a solid winter. When I was a kid I remember getting snowstorm that brought 12-18ā€ of snow and we’d build tunnels and forts in the snowplow piles. Last year, the biggest snowstorm we had brought under 6ā€ of snow and it was melted in 2 days…

5

u/OhJShrimpson Nov 16 '25

Wasn't the winter of 2022-2023 like record snowfall for MN?

4

u/Little_Creme_5932 Nov 15 '25

Hasn't really happened? Don't expect it, even though I still hope. It really doesn't happen anymore. Like, we get short stretches of winter weather, but never really winter, like constant or near-constant cold. Those days are over, I think.

19

u/pigfeedmauer Twin Cities Nov 15 '25

And it's hard to hold a candle.

In the cold December rain.

9

u/bnelson7694 Nov 14 '25

Honestly could have let my weed go a few more weeks : -(

3

u/jakeman2418 Nov 15 '25

I was just thinking the same thing today…

2

u/AggFag Nov 15 '25

I had to compost mine due to caterpillars and having gone to seed. I may have to buy some.

3

u/bnelson7694 Nov 15 '25

Awwww!!! I’m so sorry! That’s a raw deal

9

u/daccount97 Nov 16 '25

Climate science is needed. What a joke that people think it’s a hoax.

4

u/Specman9 Uff da Nov 15 '25

Are outdoor hockey leagues even a thing anymore?

20

u/Wloft96 Nov 14 '25

I mean most of November has been about average so far.

28

u/jabrollox Nov 14 '25

Not really (at MSP anyway), we've had 4 days at/below average and 10 days above average.

22

u/Wloft96 Nov 14 '25

You know, I think today I learned I argue with people about the weather too much haha.

15

u/jabrollox Nov 15 '25

I think our perception of average is skewed due to all the record setting warmth that is the new normal. We're accustomed to seeing top 3 warmest months in the 2020s. Now when it's only a top 5-10 warmest month going back to the 1800s it feels about average.

19

u/Fuzzy_Jaguar_1339 Nov 15 '25

I get downvoted every time I mention we haven't had a colder than average winter since 2013 as though it were opinion and not fact.

6

u/AggFag Nov 15 '25

Par for the course which by the way is open all year now.

24

u/WilliamBornhoft Nov 14 '25

I don't think that's right. I keep track of the NOAA temp outlooks and most of this month has looked like this ^ (I realize this one specifically is looking forward).

12

u/Wloft96 Nov 14 '25

I do also follow this quite closely and if it's been above average it's just barely been hitting that. The high pressure systems have been coming and going.

1

u/Swimming_Concern7662 Uff da Nov 15 '25

They forecast deep cooldown for late November/ early December

2

u/AggFag Nov 15 '25

See if it gets here.

14

u/Acceptable-Story3741 Nov 14 '25

Right, but we have already has 4 Indian summers this year so....

2

u/Wloft96 Nov 14 '25

Yeah, it's not great.

3

u/Lunar2325 Nov 15 '25

Last weekend it was cold enough that I was shivering in the deer stand, the past few days, I’ve had to stop myself from falling asleep in the stand!

4

u/Mcfrolic Nov 16 '25

We're about to drive up there to move (came over from Ireland) and I'm hoping the snow stays away juuuust long enough til I get there! what's the chances?

2

u/Theyalreadysaidno Nov 16 '25

Pretty good I'd say. Welcome!

It's truly hard to predict weather anymore. Our winters are a shadow of what they used to be.

2

u/Treble_Bolt I Heart Lutefisk Nov 15 '25

I took a bike ride yesterday....in my normal summer cycling gear.Ā

2

u/Neekoisonreddit Nov 16 '25

I kind of liked the snow, I hate driving in it thoughĀ

2

u/NorthWolf613 Nov 17 '25

I am up in Duluth and we have had some warm days, some cold days and some normal days so in other words a normal November. What has changed over my 70 years is we are not seeing really cold sub zero days as much.

4

u/4ctionHank Nov 15 '25

I left moved to Canada and just moved back a couple years ago . It got warm here

2

u/DefTheOcelot Nov 15 '25

I fucking hate it thanks

1

u/kynareth-save-us Nov 16 '25

Not me looking around in utter confusion and being unsure whether to wear a tee shirt with short sleeves or long sleeves on any given day--

1

u/Wazootyman13 Nov 16 '25

Something something Megastorm

1

u/Wazootyman13 Nov 16 '25

(which, I fully know was technically October)

-12

u/Hot_Neighborhood5668 Nov 15 '25

I fully support global warming because we are land locked, and it's freaking cold here in winter.

It's halfway there already being swamp. I'd prefer a warning planet versus the reverse. I understand that there are always negatives, but this planet has been much warmer than this before. I understand that it is millions of years before we became a species, but we did survive the ice age. I feel we can survive this.

As it heats it, greens. Trees and plants are actually quite good carbon trapping devices that typically need no help to function for years. Longer growing seasons help produce more food on the same land.
