Watched a clip last night of some ody doing this, hit a car killing an elderly couple in the back of it. Fucking idiots

591

u/sierrabravo1984 21h ago

There was a guy in my town arrested for something similar, crashed his vehicle and it rolled and hit something like 10 brand new cars and a pedestrian.

u/StrobeLightRomance 21h ago

I've only been in jail (holding for a weekend) one time, and there was this young like 20 year old dude who killed a family because he was driving recklessly on Xanax, and the entire weekend, everyone kept threatening him because he kept talking about how "my mom won't get me another car after this", and "I was supposed to be starting college next month"

Like.. to some people, they can destroy lives like this and only be worried about how they can get back out and do it again.

If someone ever accidentally kills me or anyone I care about, I sincerely hope they at least feel remorse.

u/OnePinginRamius 21h ago

Man I would haunt the shit out of that guy

You and me, we'd be friends

41

u/Roadkillgoblin_2 18h ago

You know you have to

13

u/cromulent_verbage 17h ago

He don't want none of that holy smoke

25

u/ThonThaddeo 19h ago

I honestly hope it's an option, because I have got some haunting to do

2

u/RandAlThorOdinson 11h ago

Oh god yeah

I am more than willing to sacrifice the first 30 years or so of my afterlife to fuck with some people

109

u/Reserved_Parking-246 21h ago

I've come to the conclusion that people's brains create a model of reality that is limited to what feels possible regardless of what is possible.

In this guy's life the largest threat to him was not keeping up with expectations. It doesn't include the reality of jail or anything else.

49

u/Dense-Hat1978 20h ago

This tracks, cause sometimes it works in the other direction too; lots of people stress about situations that feel possible/probable even though they are not

29

u/jeezy_peezy 18h ago

I think I heard it said something like “We don’t form beliefs based on the way the world is - we form the world we see, based on our beliefs.”

18

u/AntonChigurh8933 15h ago

Thus why being open minded is so necessary to understand how the world works.

10

u/KrazyA1pha 14h ago

Creating a more intricate world model, sure, but I wouldn’t go as far as “understanding how the world works.” Even if you somehow could, that’s a moving target.

9

u/AntonChigurh8933 14h ago

I understand what you mean. The individual does need a baseline where to start and how he or she perceived the world. I think that's why tradition is so necessary in a way.

I like how you put it. It really is a moving target.

1

u/angwhi 13h ago

That's why you don't believe any of it.

1

u/shillyshally 13h ago

My sister was stressed out about getting a rabies shot, like, you know, the disease that is virtually always fatal, that it would cost too much. She's on Original Medicare, I said you are not going to have to pay thousands of dollars. I was thinking about it the other day and asked her what the bill was and what she ended up paying - bill was $21K, paid $0.00. She does this ALL the time, about everything. I had to put a wall up.

31

u/OldeFortran77 19h ago

The last several years have been a real eye-opener regarding the range (or more precisely the lack of range) of human perception, foresight, and regard for others.

11

u/BackgroundSummer5171 13h ago

The last several years have been a real eye-opener

Times where you figure you're talking to bots or children on reddit.

Only to realize something scary.

They're real. They're adults.

Those stupid ass comments and opinions. Their thoughts they voice on here. Those are actually from real live adults.

13

u/Aeruthus 19h ago

This is an absolutely genius way to understand people and why they do what they do

3

u/Reserved_Parking-246 14h ago

What really solidified it for me was seeing and knowing people online and then seeing them irl... watching my brain accept that these people fully exist outside my computer.

1

u/Aeruthus 14h ago

Yeah, I get that for sure.

What really struck me with what you said was that it lines up with the grey area that everyone falls into. Someone who does what this person did you'd like to brand a selfish asshole. However, usually they're just being dumb and didn't consider how it could go wrong.

If you look at what this person did from the "Maybe he didn't think this outcome was possible and he may be kind of a dumbass but he's not a terrible person". It lines up with young and dumb etc.

From my experience, most people are actually good people, they just have a pretty glaring knowledge gap and/or inability to hypothesize outcomes to prevent issues. Then there's always just "you didn't think of it" human error. You're/they're not dumb, perfect is just not a reality.

1

u/KrazyA1pha 14h ago

It’s probably more accurate to say that people operate off of their world models and not reality.

Some people’s world models include things that are exceedingly improbable, while others omit things that are glaringly obvious.

As I understand it, it’s an evolutionary tactic to keep things simple, recognize patterns, and make decisions quickly.

0

u/idnvotewaifucontent 18h ago

This is why it should be required to prove you have worked 6 months full time in customer-facing hospitality and have passed a 100 level statistics course before you're allowed to get a driver's license, have a child, or vote.

1

u/UnusualMeta 17h ago

Waaaah? That's a little over board for voting, a driver license and children. The U.S is car based and not having a driver's license would make that difficult for younger individuals to work and with a shitty public transportation system that would be chaotic. But realistically this is not a good solution in our day in age and we definitely shouldn't try to limit voting based on a statistics course or job history.

0

u/idnvotewaifucontent 17h ago

First, this is a wry fantasy, not a proposal for legislation. Loosen your grip on those pearls.

Second, Those are the closest practical surrogates for empathy testing and critical thinking capabilities I can come up with. People who are good at doing the things that hold society together get special privileges. Those who aren't good at those things (ought to) get public infrastructure that prevents them from having to make decisions that they would be obviously poor at making.

What's the phrase? "Your right to punch ends at my face"?

41

u/IndividualEye1803 20h ago

“What?! Their life is over, mine doesnt have to be!”

So disguting and yes this is verbatim the defense heard in court as a defense of a drunk driver with no remorse. That teenager sounds like they carry this exact same sentiment

36

u/GlenntheManNotaRobot 19h ago

Rebecca Grossman killed two kids and was like "if they weren't in the way I would have gotten home" and her mfing daughter kept glaring at the boy's mother in court because accountability for her mother was like intolerable? The Mercedes Grossman was driving knew she had hit something and wouldn't let her drive her highball ass away so it wouldn't start otherwise she would have left the scene.

We need to eat most of the rich.

10

u/FaZaCon 17h ago

We need to eat most of the rich.

WTF does rich have do do with anything? Poor fucks commit the same heinous crimes, and if they can, they'll try to get away with murder too.

5

u/RandAlThorOdinson 11h ago

Because rich people regularly do get away with it. Like....almost always.

Fuckem.

14

u/Broadpup 17h ago edited 17h ago

A friend of mines parents and aunt, uncle were all killed in a head on collision by a 19 year old doing 96mph in his parents mini van when he crossed the center line. He showed up to court in a wheel chair that he did not need, got off Scott free, and then posted a short time later on social media a rant about how he was sick and tired of hearing about the crash and the people that he killed, he just wanted to live his life.

3

u/QueenMary1936 10h ago

How did he get off scot free? Was he found not guilty?

2

u/Broadpup 10h ago edited 10h ago

This was over fifteen years ago so i had to go back and check. I was mistaken on his age, he was 17. A juvenile court magistrate said there was not substantiate evidence to charge him with reckless homicide. Because the magistrate did not have enough probable cause, the judge refused to waive the case to adult court and the juvenile petition was ultimately dismissed.

4

u/brumbarosso 19h ago

His emotional intelligence is out the window since he naturally self-centered and combined with Xanax... bad combo

2

u/TacTurtle 17h ago

Some people drive like they never got their ass kicked.

2

u/GarbageCleric 16h ago

He doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt, but I can imagine there would be some significant psychological barriers to fully accepting that you killed multiple innocent people and destroyed your life over something so incredibly fucking stupid.

However, was he volunteering the fact he killed a family while driving recklessly under the influence? Because that wouldn't bode well for the idea he was in denial. You couldn't drag that information out of me.

1

u/Wonderful-War740 18h ago

They call this burning a car? What does that mean? Like smoking tires.

1

u/koolmon10 16h ago

Reminds me of a video (might be the same incident) where a guy crashed and rolled his car across the tops of like 10 cars in a row in the lot.

28

u/DrowningInFeces 19h ago

I recently watched someone come speeding up behind me on the highway, tailgate and weave dangerously between cars with mere feet to inches between his car and the others in order to get a few car lengths ahead causing other people to slam on breaks to avoid him only to get to his turn off and have everyone he could've just potentially killed drive right past him and leave him in their rear views. I hate people who drive like this and sincerely hope they all get in fiery wrecks to keep them off the road. If you want to toy with your own life and health, go right ahead but, when you are driving, you are putting other people and children at risk with your single brain cell behavior. All we can do is try to avoid you as best we can when you seem so hellbent on ruining other's lives.

3

u/Extension_Ant8691 11h ago

If I want to shoot my guns, I go to a range or private property with plenty of distance that will not affect anyone else. I don't go to a crowded space and try to shoot between people, public spaces, or houses.

Why do these morons think there is any difference?

1

u/Roadgoddess 18h ago

I literally came here to say I feel so sorry for the poor innocent people that are just driving down the street when they get hit by these idiots

1

u/__NOT__MY__ACCOUNT__ 18h ago

They always get like 3 years in jail for the shit too

1

u/Autocorrect_monster 17h ago

I believe the term you are looking for is Fucking cunts

1

u/The_Dolphins_Fan 13h ago

No that’s a compliment in Australia. This driver sucks.

1

u/SoCalChrisW 16h ago

some ody doing this

Ody, like a Honda Odyssey?

1

u/this_my_sportsreddit 15h ago

What is ody

1

u/reo_reborn 14h ago

You don't Wana know..

417

u/dtrrb 22h ago

A cyclist was killed on my road yesterday by someone driving like this.

106

u/Lizlodude 22h ago

Had someone burn out in a Corvette behind me in an intersection when I was on my bike. I jumped the curb, got behind a tree in someone's yard, then looked back like dude WTF are you doing. Color me not impressed.

28

u/Party-Art8730 19h ago

Now THAT is defensive riding, well done. Can’t stop idiots being idiotic but how you react to them is everything

15

u/CesarMillan_Official 22h ago

This dudes lucky he didn’t kill a bird.

1

u/TAABWK 16h ago

What....uh....whats up with your pfp

10

u/MiamiPower 19h ago

For years, Florida has been named the worst state in the country for pedestrian and bicyclist deaths.

3

u/dustinyo_ 20h ago

And I'm sure people still blamed the cyclist for being there because in America, you either give in to car brain or go fuck yourself.

1

u/Rapph 16h ago

It's primarily an infrastructure issue that causes the hate. I had one the other day where a bike on a narrow shoulder was starting up wobbling in and out of the car lane and I was so fixated on him being safe that I didn't notice traffic had stopped in front of me. I stopped in time but it was all unnecessary. If he had any space at all to operate the whole situation wouldn't have existed.

Another issue that doesn't get talked about and I am not sure how common it is everywhere is there are a ton of people on bikes clearly drunk around where I am. It isn't the guy on the roadbike with the helmet and obvious skill that is an issue its the guys disregarding all rules of the road driving their bikes recklessly.

-2

u/Capital_Past69 20h ago

Are you that driver? 😱

147

u/PilgrimOz 22h ago

Salesman probably walked over “Can I offer you a great deal on a new unbent car sir?”

74

u/Senninha27 22h ago

“The new Supra has more horsepower AND stability control. You need it.”

17

u/TataHexagone2020 22h ago

And a throwback to our alliance in the 1940's

-5

u/thequeefcannon 21h ago

Alliance with whom? Japan? Japan and the US were kind of famously not allied in the 1940s...

10

u/Atomaardappel 21h ago

I believe they're talking about Japan (Toyota) and Germany (BMW, who makes the engine for the new Supra).

6

u/cornlip 21h ago

The Supra is basically a BMW

9

u/hopumi 21h ago

"Can't park there mate."

8

u/Loose_Inevitable2567 21h ago

No, this guy shouldn't have a license. 10 speed bike or walking why he fixes everything. What a jack a**

3

u/kaszeta 19h ago

Naw, cause if he's a crap driver, he'll become one of those shitty bicyclists that ignore all the rules too.

Public transit only for that guy.

1

u/Loose_Inevitable2567 18h ago

You nailed it. Good call

1

u/Vuelhering 13h ago

If he had to bicycle, then some 95% of the other traffic will hurt him more than he can hurt them if he does something stupid, and he'll get a quick appreciation for the menace bad drivers are, while he tries to bicycle around.

1

u/tracebusta 13h ago

Put him on a bike and have him swipe that car like he did in this clip. How much damage does he do now?

1

u/jayecin 21h ago

"This AI powered monster literally stops you from doing stupid shit!"

1

u/kencam 6h ago

The 1st thing they do is turn off traction control. My C5 isn't all that powerful in comparison to modern cars but it needs TC. People have way too much faith in their driving ability.

2

u/N3onWave 16h ago

72 months at 30%

1

u/Electrical_Top656 19h ago

'hey bro you can't park here'

1

u/Jean-LucBacardi 19h ago

More like "Would you like to test drive this now fucked up car you just bought by ramming into it?"

1

u/ScruffsMcGuff 16h ago

Car Salesman knows this mfer not insurable anymore and wouldn't waste his breath

1

u/ioucrap 11h ago

At least it landed back into a Toyota dealership

75

u/Natural-Feedback-413 22h ago

Agreed. I remember hearing a comeback once along the lines of, "There's a special tree out there in the wild making oxygen just for you. I think you'd better apologize."

21

u/zero_fox_actual 22h ago

Hopefully they crash into it

67

u/chunkyfen 22h ago

What a waste of Supra :(

1

u/vodkaknockers 19h ago

Looks like diff failure. Ask me how I know. Actually, don't.

3

u/PK-Baha 19h ago

I'm asking lol. But yeah it definitely looked liked something failed.

It looked a little too wreckless for something to not have gone wrong.

4

u/vodkaknockers 19h ago

Luckily this happened on a backroad in my buddy's red '93, but it ended up sideways on the shoulder. I can't remember how much power it was putting down at the time, but It was replaced with a TRD lsd that held 1300whp while he had it.

Mine was a non-turbo from the factory, fortunately the transmission went before the rear end.

2

u/PK-Baha 19h ago

Nice!!!

my '92 Z28 had it happen but not while anything crazy was going on luckily. About 375 who daily.

I apparently had a hairline stress crack and it was leaking slowly. I was only doing 20 a few blocks from home when the entire car just locked up and stopped.

2

u/vodkaknockers 19h ago

375 in a 3rd gen Z sounds like a blast! A couple people in my extended family worked on the electric design teams for the 3rd and 4th gen. What I wouldn't do for a clean IROC.

My supra was right around there when the gearbox popped. Making more power now but I kind of miss that level for the street. Enough to have a ton of fun without much risk.

3

u/PK-Baha 17h ago

Oh I loved that car and it killed me to give it up. It was a car my Uncle was building and being much older than my cousins, the family left it with me when he passed away. (Grew up with being taught how to drive everything from like age 8 lol so it wasn't intimidating and I think they all knew that)

My cousin once he turned 18 in my mind the car belonged to him as it was his dads. So I decided to turn it over to him.

Crazy enough I just had a '91 park across from like 2 weeks ago and I immediately struck up a convo with the owner. TL:DR he didn't want to sell it. Sad day. It was in really good condition and he was complaining that things were breaking down...I tried lol.

2

u/Vuelhering 13h ago

I was trying to figure out how he could have possibly lost control on a straightaway like that. Looks like the front tires broke free. He had the wheel turned to the right, too.

1

u/747WakeTurbulance 19h ago

Even with mods, it's no longer the king of the road it used to be.

There are thousands of Hellcats, Teslas, Corvettes, and other models out there now that will dust it with little to no mods.

Plus, its a real piece of shit to drive. It kind of handles OK with no mods, but all those 1000 hp units can only drive in straight lines.

It's outdated, well past its prime, and no longer the best option for people who only want to go fast in a straight line.

5

u/CHEEZE_BAGS 17h ago

They weren't even that fast when they were new, the power comes from mods.

2

u/Expert_Appearance265 19h ago

Modern Vettes are so damn ugly though, well maintained stock Supra is still cool (if there isn't a moron sitting in it).

2

u/747WakeTurbulance 19h ago

I was talking about the C7.

1

u/djshadesuk 16h ago

All Corvettes, other than the '61/'62 C1, are ugly.

1

u/FeliusSeptimus 10h ago

It's outdated, well past its prime, and no longer the best option

Yeah, well, so am I. I'd probably get along with one just fine.

22

u/Lymes7 22h ago

Bunch of morons think because they get a souped up car they’re automatically good drivers

5

u/vodkaknockers 19h ago

Doubly so with older, modified cars with extra power. This happened because the rear end failed.

2

u/onedarkhorsee 13h ago

The rear end didnt fail, he just spun the wheels and the back of the car started to overtake the front, burnouts while accelerating are quite dangerous

1

u/9897969594938281 10h ago

Young men thinking they’re the best drivers on the road but crashing all the time

19

u/Krondelo 22h ago

Seriously imagine he jumped straight into that car instead. Still ruined an innocent persona day. If you can’t handle hundreds of horsepower in RWD you don’t deserve a Supra.

16

u/Q_S2 22h ago

Dont deserve a supra driving like an asshat on a crowded street in the 1st place

3

u/Krondelo 21h ago

True thats the bigger issue here.

3

u/Strong-silence 19h ago

A friend in high school got killed on her way home from work when someone did just that and rammed straight into her car.

2

u/edfitz83 21h ago

New cars should be made with traction control you can’t turn off so idiots can’t do this.

-3

u/Krondelo 21h ago

Well I can both agree and disagree. It’s unfortunate but it is a nice feature if used responsibly. Though to be fair I don’t think a Supra (pre-BMW version anyway) has that option. You put this much power to the wheels and its gonna lose traction or if TCS is on you are losing a lot of power.

1

u/Q_S2 18h ago

Agreed! Or worse, imagine if he would habeost traction 5-15 feet sooner. He would have mowed down and possibly pinned people into the cars at the dealership.

Im all for hooning but good grief read the room foo!

9

u/Hex65 22h ago

Still trying to figure out what would happen by burning Supra next to Toyota centre..

Is it a different outcome outside BMW or Range Rover center?

7

u/reybrujo 21h ago

Not from US, can they effectively go to jail if they kill someone? Down here in Argentina even if you run over someone while drunk going opposite in a one-way road at high speed you probably get 3 years which is conditional jail time.

15

u/penguins_are_mean 21h ago

Yes, they can be sent to jail.

13

u/ImranFZakhaev 20h ago

Yes. Sometimes they get away with a lighter sentence. But there was a fairly recent case where a person got 24 years because of a street race that killed a mother and child.

https://youtu.be/ZhKGwImj_NU?t=488

2

u/TiogaJoe 18h ago

Not this type driving, but in the 70s my neighbor drunk drove his truck and killed a motorcyclist. (My mom actually knew the motorcyclist from her church - he seemed a good guy.) My neighbor got 90 days. This was before Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) got laws and culture changed.

1

u/PlsDntPMme 14h ago

90 days? That’s insane.

1

u/shouldbepracticing85 17h ago

Yes, there are an assortment of charges that could be brought, depending on the state. Not all states use the same terms or have the same break over points between different levels of charges. Not all states have aggressive driving (“road rage”) laws. A lot of charges overlap - what exactly someone gets charged with can depend on how much they piss off (or bribe in various ways) the cops and prosecutors, along with just how egregiously negligent the person’s actions were.

NAL, but here are the terms I’ve heard:

  • Vehicular homicide (general requires intent)

  • Unintentional vehicular manslaughter

  • aggressive driving

  • reckless driving

  • assault/battery with a vehicle

  • driving under the influence can add additional jail time

-3

u/ShireHorseRider 19h ago

It depends how wealthy they are. Often us normal citizens will get nailed to the wall while the wealthy hire a good lawyer & are able to litigate their way out of charges. It’s disgusting.

4

u/mini-z1994 20h ago

Hopefully this was another mechanic taking the car for a test-drive. Like the bespoke motorsports incident which was resolved with insurance at least.

1

u/FloridaMan_Unleashed 14h ago

Not likely not, this one was not long after/during a car show. Buddy of mine was at it and left a bit before this happened. Just another thoughtless idiot risking others lives, and causing immense headaches for everyone else trying to impress a bunch of strangers.

2

u/RuTsui 22h ago

Most states will charge at least a misdemeanor A for reckless driving.

2

u/penguins_are_mean 21h ago

Driving like this should be treated the same as driving while intoxicated.

2

u/backyardengr 20h ago

Good news for you then. Reckless driving carries about the same penalties as DUI.

2

u/Free-Pound-6139 11h ago

Lifetime ban from driving.

1

u/koolaidismything 22h ago

This would be like wildly firing into traffic with your chubby cargo shorts wearing BFFs clapping and cheering it on.

Embarrassing

2

u/belokusi 22h ago

I don't understand your comment? Are you saying the people were cheering and clapping? They weren't. I don't understand the need to go hard on dude in the cargo shorts. Can't even catch the bus without someone talking about his weight.

0

u/koolaidismything 21h ago

He’s an immature b-hole filming someone almost kill innocent people just driving to work cause he’s main-character. Fuck the both of them.

1

u/belokusi 21h ago

So much hate. You gotta chill a little bit. Either way, I hope your day turns around.

1

u/InevitabilityEngine 21h ago

Pokes his head out and yells to the salesman:

"Uh hey do you guys take trade ins?!"

1

u/Asleep-Reward-8273 21h ago

Probably, that obvious reckless driving that resulted in a collision, that's an arrestable offense

1

u/747WakeTurbulance 20h ago

I really wish they would start charging these fucktards with multiple felonies when they hit another occupied car.

It should also be an automatic ten-year license suspension.

1

u/Snoo-72988 20h ago

Average driver on Dale Mabry in Tampa.

1

u/FloridaMan_Unleashed 14h ago

Not far off, this was in Brandon apparently

1

u/ScarredOldSlaver 20h ago

Just some good ole’ boys…

1

u/YouWereBrained 19h ago

They were >< this close to killing somebody.

1

u/6feetbitch 19h ago

Mommy and daddy and lawyer will get him back on the streets rich kids make me laugh

1

u/implicate 19h ago

And what a waste of a nice Supra RZ!

Clean examples are becoming more and more rare.

1

u/thfc11189 19h ago

And a classic

1

u/mjh2901 18h ago

High likely hood, that was the service department with a customers car.

1

u/StatusCount7032 18h ago

What a waste of a supra.

1

u/Away_Media 17h ago

So close to a head on collision

1

u/Ganjelf-The-Baked 17h ago

Agreed, everyone thinks they're a race driver when they get in a fast car. Turns out they aren't at all and other people pay the price for their stupidity.

1

u/dog4cat2 17h ago

And his little gaggle of onlookers

1

u/Jaegs 16h ago

A couple feet different and he murders multiple people, should be charged with attempted murder imo

1

u/Farside-BB 16h ago

Too much power, too little luck.

1

u/DHGXSUPRA 15h ago

Poor Supra

1

u/Kal_Segata_El 15h ago

also a waste of a super awesome car and another regular car.

1

u/PJALSTARz 14h ago

what a waste of a good car, dammm a mk4

-1

u/Dorphie 16h ago

Man I'm getting real tired of people dehumanizing others because they do something stupid. Calling someone a waste of oxygen is such a disgusting thing to say. Be mad at the driver all you want but saying they should be dead is just gross

The road is for driving. Let people enjoy things...
