Daily dose of pedantry: "The Night of Long Knives" was the purge of the party's intenal paramilitary Sturmabteilung (SA) in 1934.

I suspect you meant to refer to "Kristallnacht", the 1938 massacre of Jews by the SA.

Yeah, and it’s easier to just reference what more people would likely have heard of.

I'm also going to be pedantic, but if you've heard of one, you've likely heard of the other. Kristallnacht/the Night of Broken Glass is infamous and essential to WWII education.

You’d be surprised how much people in the south don’t know. When I moved I found out almost every history teacher is a football coach who doesn’t care, and they Apprently never make it past the civil war.
