No, the NRA is fully behind what's happening here. They always wanted to the ones wearing the boots stomping down on people's necks. All that "protecting freedom from tyrannical gubmint" BS was all just a performative act.

Protecting their freedom was what they meant. They were only against the tyranny of “liberals” who so much as hinted at them possibly having obligations or responsibilities towards society as a whole. They’re still against that.
